Our Competition Program
About the Program
In the Competition Program, a school will be assigned several high school volunteers who have experience with competition math. The middle school students will, depending on number of students, be split into multiple groups that suit their abilities. Volunteers will instruct the students in various competition math techniques and guide them through practice problems in a curriculum that adapts to the strengths and weaknesses of the group. The core curriculum is composed of the 4 main topics: algebra, geometry, combinatorics, and number theory.

A Year of Instruction
Starting late-September to early-October, we will begin the courses at each school with a diagnostic test meant to evaluate the abilities of the students. Based on the results of the test, if the number of students and coaches are sufficient, students may be divided into groups. These groups will follow the same overall curriculum of a unit of algebra followed by a unit of geometry. Afterwards, students will receive a crash course in number theory and combinatorics and team selection test for the Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition. Post-competition, more comprehensive of combinatorics and number theory will be taught. States qualifiers may also receive separate instruction. The program will end around spring break (April).
